How to Install Sendmail on Ubuntu and Debian

This is a short tutorial on how to install Sendmail on Ubuntu and Debian Linux distributions. Sendmail is a general purpose free and open source Mail Transport Agent (MTA) that supports many kinds of mail-transfer and delivery methods, including Simple Mail Transfer Protocols (SMTP) used for email transport over the internet.

This tutorial was requested by one of my readers, and covers only installing Sendmail and sending a test email in its simplest form.
